Distribution:Indo-West Pacific: Persian Gulf to Western Australia, throughout the Indo-Australian Archipelago and in the western Pacific at the islands of Melanesia and Micronesia, north to Taiwan, southern Japan and the Ryukyu Islands.

This particular clown has a lot of different color variations. This clown is known as and anemone fish as they have a special symbiotic relationship with certain reef inverts known as anemone. One does not necessarily need the other to survive, but it is an interesting relationship to hobbyists. This particular species is one of the most common clowns in the aquarium trade (besides A. percula and A. ocellaris). This is the only know species of clowns that will interact with all 10 host anemones.
